Paul Binai: Pulp Nation
Sunday March 28, 2010 - Sunday May 16, 2010
Free w/ admission
 Theater of Politics |
Paul Binai regards his work solely as a reflection of the emotional tone of the present day. His themes often portray the harsher aspects of life that have become so much a part of our contemporary culture exploited through the media. Derived from historical sources, literature and personal experience, his work is powerful in both its imagery and style. Thickly textured fields of vibrant primary and secondary colors comprise his paintings while in his collages he brings together both contemporary and vintage references to interpret the same themes in a completely different manner recalling pulp fiction of the 1950s.
Paul Binai received his education in fine arts at Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana; Yale University; and the School of Fine Arts, Fontainebleau, France. The most significant influence on his work has been German Expressionism and Die Brucke.
